天灰 S.H.E.

Sy_waittilyoureolderI really liked this movie.  It was very touching and I liked the story line.  Andy once again did a good job with this movie.  I will definitely recommend this movie.

今日撞星 - 黃秋生 & 林雪

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

They are shooting a film in Macau, but I didn’t see them at the set.  They were just walking on the street, seperately.  I actually saw 黃秋生 twice today.  First time, he was walking from the hotel and the second time he was walking back, within a half an hour.  There are some other actors here that I prefer to bump into, but don’t know why I keep on seeing the same person.

今日撞星 - Twins

Monday, November 28th, 2005

I went to PageOne at Times Square and Twins were there book searching.  When I walked in, I saw Ah Sa and I was totally shock.  I never expected to bump into them.  She keeps on walking around with an assistant.  She had her hair tied up and were wearing big sunglasses, but it was very easy to recognize her.  She look very sharp.  She kept on walking and looking around.  Then, I noticed Ah Gil was standing in front of the magazine stand.  She had a hat on and sunglasses.  If Ah Sa wasn’t there, I might not have recognized her.  She was always facing the shelf.  Her hair was straight and long, and she was about my height.  So far, from all the stars that I had bumped into, Twins are definitely the most exciting.  Too bad I couldn’t take pictures since it will be very obvious and disturbing.

I am a Management Trainee!

Friday, November 25th, 2005

I am totally confused right now.  It seems like a job really fell from the sky; didn’t expect to be hired so soon (soon? Yes).  While I was in Europe, Holiday Inn called for an interview.  They were told that I was away and will be back in two weeks.  They needed someone immediately, and couldn’t wait for me.  Afterall, they called me yesterday and ask me to go in right away.  I met the HR manager and was told the position is for Executive Assistant.  However, since I can’t write or type Chinese, it might be a problem.  Then, I met with the GM (the one who needed an assistant), who seemed to be very nice.  He said Chinese is not a problem since all correspondents that get to his office are usually in English.  However, he wanted someone with experience, and probably a little older.  He asked if I will be interested in some other positions, like management trainee, and I said I did.  Seriously, I am more interested in mgt trainee than exec. asst.  Today, I got a call again to go in.  The GM told me that he tailored made a programme for me; I will be the second mgt trainee in 12 years.  It kind of scared me a bit, as I felt the pressure.  I will be training for 6-9 months in almost all divisions of the hotel.  The pay is not that attractive, but within my expectation.  I think it is a great opportunity though, since I can get into some other position after the training period.  I think I will enjoy most of the training, but some parts worry me.  I will be at the reception, in housekeeping, in the kitchen, at the cafes, and, of course, in offices.  I am truly not looking forward to some of it.  I really don’t know what I have done or what qualifications I have that deserve a training programme to be setup for me.  It’s a start though, and I have to start facing the reality that a career is part of life.  I will miss all the free time I have, since a 44 (min.) hr work week is not fun.

Digital Fortress

Monday, November 21st, 2005

Digital1When I found out that my friend had this book, I picked it up and started reading. It was really good and I couldn’t leave it. I heard that this one is not as good as Da Vinci Code or Angels & Demons; so it is good that I started with this one. Now, I am really looking forward to reading his other books. I hope the next one will be Deception Point, so I will be moving towards a better one each time. Originally, when I saw the book being so thick, I thought I will never finish it; but instead this was one of my fastest read. I really recommend this book to others. My friend had been telling me for awhile to read Da Vinci Code and, this time, I promise I will read it real soon. Now I totally understand why Dan Brown’s books are always on top of the bestseller lists everywhere.

Holland - Rotterdam

A trip to Holland will not be completed without seeing at least one windmill, and there it is.  Though nothing special, it is still a windmill in Rotterdam.

Begium - Brussels

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

We took a 2 hr train from Rotterdam to get to Brussels.  It was very cold there.  Brussels is a small city, so a 1 day trip was enough.  And of course, we got some Belgium chocolate.

051120_13← Grand Place

This is a square surrounded by historic buildings on all 4 sides.  One of the buidling is the Hotel de Ville (Town Hall).

Due to theft, the original had been removed for safekeeping, and this is a replacement version.  It is very small and looks awkward with those clothes on.

← Belgium Waffles

Other than being famous for its chocolate, waffle is also a must have.  It was denitely delicious.

Holland - Amsterdam

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

We only spent a day in Amsterdam, since we decided to go to Belgium as well. We went on a canal tour and a few museums, including Van Gogh Museum & Anne Frank Huis.  Then we had a delicious pancake at night.  We also went to the Red Light district and saw a lot of prostitudes.  They are behind glass windows on both sides of the street, wearing a bra & t-back.  Very interesting indeed!
